If you are looking forward to summer in the UK, you have to think about how you would like to spend your vacation. You can make the most out of your summer if you plan it well. This time, you may consider visiting the national parks in England and Wales. If you know more abut all twelve of them, you will know where to spend your summer with your family.
Peak District
This is the first Britain national park declared in 1951. It has the most number of visitors every year with 22 million people. This figure makes it second to Japan’s Mount Fuji National Park as the most visited national park in the entire world.
Lake District
This boasts of peaceful lakes and high mountains. It serves as host to 14 million tourists every year. This park is mostly popular among Japanese tourists who want to see the home where Beatrix Potter lived, the famous writer, lived.
Dartmoor
This is located in Devon and is mostly recognised for the stone Tors above the moors. It has a rich and long history with lots of amazing stories involving giants and even creatures with hairy hands. If you want to look at ancient views, this is the right park to visit.
Snowdonia
This was developed in 1951. It is ranked as the third most visited national park in the UK, attracting six million people every year. Its main attraction is Mount Snowdon, which is the highest peak in England and Wales. There are a lot of sights to explore in the national park as well.
North York Moors
This boasts of the biggest heather moor in the UK. The sight of the heather in the national park makes North York Moors worth visiting. There are many other beautiful sceneries in the park as well.
Pembrokeshire
This is one of the most unique parks in Britain because it is mostly made of a long stretch of coastline. It is unlike the other national parks with a mix of inland countryside and coastline. You would know how different this park is from the others after a personal visit. Pembrokeshire has among the best coastlines in the British Isles.
Yorkshire Dales
This has a breathtaking natural landscape made of high peaks, lush forest, meadows with lots of flowers and heather strewn moors. It is visited by about 13 million people every year.
Exmoor
This reaches the areas of Somerset and Devon. It also offers amazing scenery made up of vibrant woodlands, sandy beaches, purple heather cover moors, and rugged rock valleys. It has retained its towns and villages in chocolate box design.
Brecon Beacons
This is found in the England border. Its main attraction is the Black Mountains.
Northumberland
This is located north of England and in the Scotland border. Its main attraction is the Hadrian’s Wall. It was developed 2,000 years ago by the Romans. There also ruins of several forts along the wall.
New Forest
This is the newest national park in England and Wales when it was declared in 2005. However, it has been a popular tourist destination due to its royal forest.
The Norfolk Broads
Even if this has not been declared as a national park, it still has the same protection as the other parks mentioned above.
